Shelby is about to introduce to the world the most powerful street production muscle car ever.
Based on its Ford Shelby GT500, the lastest whopper from Shelby, called the 1000, ironically packs 1200 horsepower and will be unveiled to the world at the New York auto show.
Under the hood is Ford's new massive 5.8-litre V8 engine which has been stripped back to its block to have the internals strengthened and then beefed-up through forced induction and cooling.
There is also adjustable suspension and, not surprisingly given its size, a big brake package.
"The 2013 Shelby 1000 is the most powerful production muscle car on the market," said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American's test driver.
The Shelby 1000, which the company claims is the world the most powerful street production muscle car.
The Shelby 1000 S/C will be less expensive than a Veyron, too, but it won’t be cheap. The conversion costs $154,995, on top of the cost of a new 2013 GT500, which starts at $54,995.
