2005 Kora Award nominee for Best spiritual male artiste Jojo Mwangaza says he is still struggling with the Satanism tag that some unknown people attached to his name about 6 years ago.
Mr Mwangaza who is currently outside the country stated in an emailed response to a press query from The Church Newspaper that he is not a Satanist.
Best known for his unique style of rhumba worship lyrics and music, the multi-talented musician and
songwriter dominated the local market with his brand of the genre.His repertoire includes the albums Tehila, Rejoice Relax Jehovah is in control, 4×4 Teti munkwanishe and Hakuna Matata na Yesu which was released while he was in France.
Together with fellow gospel artiste Mathew Ngosa, the duo were a popular double-header feature at
many concerts, regularly hosting live end of year music events that drew large crowds.

However, shortly after he left for Europe in 2006, rumours surfaced that Mr Mwangaza was involved in practicing Satanism. Some sections of society even believed claims that he ‘fled’ Zambia because of his

Although Mr Mwangaza strenuously denied the rumours, they have kept growing with some of his fans shunning his music. His album ‘4 by 4 Tetimunkwanishe’ was the most affected.
But Mr Mwangaza told The Church Newspaper that the Living God knows that he is innocent. He added that he is hoping that one day, his name shall completely come out clean.
And a survey conducted in Lusaka by The Church Newspaper during the week revealed that not all is
lost in Mr Mwangaza’s music career.

Another believer, Mr Melvin Mulenga, a member of the Roman Catholic Church said God will punish those
