With a booming economy in Nigeria and more black children than anywhere else in the world, Taofick Okoya was dismayed when he could not find a black doll for his niece.

The 43-year-old spotted a gap in the market and, with little competition from foreign firms such as Mattel Inc, the maker of Barbie, he set up his own business. He outsourced manufacturing of doll parts to low-cost China, assembled them onshore and added a twist – traditional Nigerian costumes.
Seven years on, Okoya sells between 6,000 and 9,000 of his Queens of Africa and Naija Princesses a month, and reckons he has 10-15% of a small but fast-growing market.
“I like it,” says Ifunanya Odiah, five, struggling to contain her excitement as she inspects one of Okoya’s dolls in a Lagos shopping mall. “It’s black, like me.”
While multinational companies are flocking to African markets, Okoya’s experience suggests that, in some areas at least, there is still an opportunity for domestic businesses to establish themselves by using local knowledge to tap a growing, diverse and increasingly sophisticated middle class.
There’s no doubt about Nigeria’s economic potential. Economist Jim O’Neill has this year popularised it as one of the Mint countries – alongside Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey – that he sees as successors to the first wave of emerging markets he dubbed the Brics (Brazil, Russia and India and China).

With about 170 million people, Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country by far, and its economy is growing at about 7%, vying with South Africa as the continent’s largest.

Cops say that two Ohio men who called 911 to report being robbed (by a group of teenagers, as they all practiced medieval sword fighting in a Taco Bell parking lot) forgot to mention that they were actually selling the teenagers weed at the time.
The parking lot dealers, Sebastian Wozniak and Anthony Klier, told police they "met a group of teenagers in the parking lot of a Westlake Taco Bell on Sept. 4 to practice medieval sword-fighting."
Although Wozniak and Klier refused to tell police what the teenagers stole, authorities quickly deduced it was a drug deal gone bad.
Police say that was really happened was that Wozniak had gotten into a car with the teenagers intending to sell them $80 worth of marijuana. Instead, one of the kids pepper sprayed Wozniak, stole Wozniak's weed from him, and and ran off with it.

Local Artist and Career Woman Saboi Imboila has rubbished a report carried by the Zambia Intelligence News Website that she is 7 months Pregnant.
Saboi who recently obtained her Masters Degree in Law said she was astonished to read an article claiming that she was seven months pregnant when not.
Saboi laughed about it and described it as a joke and further went to encourage the author of an article to get facts rights before publishing such stories.
Saboi also bragged about her Masters Degree in Law she recently obtained, stating that she is currently committed to her work and will not have a fourth child in the next 2 years.

I think some people are not only crazy but obsessed with i dont know what…. Im a good planner- always have been. In case the writer of that article doesnt know- I only got my masters degree last year and im now working in my dream job, as well as part-time lecturer at UNZA. What this means is that iam not getting pregnant for another 2 years because this time is for solidifying my career- Thats just me and the way i plan…. I mixed babies with school when i was at UNZA as a student- and it aint easy. So im NOT getting pregnant until i earn the time to go on 4 months maternity leave at work- and that happens after clocking 2 years in most jobs. So whoever that so-called concerned friend is i would like to say that im below 40 and i love children and I WILL CERTAINLY GET PREGNANT AGAIN- But just not now. Following the Suspension of Kasama Member Of Parliament Geofrey Mwamba Bwalya aka GBM, Information reaching Zibani Zambia is that he is contemplating of joining the MMD.
