Emeli Sande Makes U.K. Chart History


Emeli Sande whose father is Zambian and mother English has set a new U.K. chart record by becoming the first solo artist to score 47 consecutive weeks in the top 10 with her debut albumOur Version Of Events.

Sande released the project last February (12) and she is now only the second act in pop chart history to maintain a significant presence in the top flight of the countdown – behind The Beatles, who landed an impressive 62 weeks in a row with their 1963 debut Please Please Me.
Our Version of Events, which was previously Britain’s number one album for seven weeks, now sits in second place on the first U.K. albums chart of 2013.
Dance DJ Calvin Harris reclaims the coveted top spot with his compilation 18 Months, while Ed Sheeran’s + takes third position.
Meanwhile, in the U.K. singles countdown, Britain’s The X Factor winner James Arthur triumphs again with his cover version of Shontelle’s hit song Impossible.
will.i.am and Britney Spears’ Scream & Shout is at two and Psy’s Gangnam Style rounds out the top three.
