Jackson Mwanza Scores A Brace on El Merreikh Debut

ZAMBIA striker Jackson Mwanza made a flying start on his competitive debut for Sudan club El Merreikh scoring a brace on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old ex-Zesco United striker scored both goals in the second half of El Merreikh’s 4-0 home win over Al-Ittihad on opening day of 2013 Sudan Super League season and capped his debut to also collect the man of the match award.
Mwanza was on target in the 55th and 65th minutes of the game against visiting Al-Ittihad in Khartoum who conceded all four goals in the second half.
The strikers promising start should ease the pressure on Mwanza considering the shoes he has filled at El Merreikh following the departure of compatriot Jonas Sakuwaha to DR Congo club TP Mazembe.
Sakuwaha had a prolific two seasons at El Merreikh scoring 15 and 18 goals in the 2012 and 2011 Super league campaigns respectively before heading to Mazembe this year.
Meanwhile, Mwanza moved to El Merreikh in last December on a long-term term from Zesco.
He finished third on the top scorers charts in the 2012 season with 11 goals for Zesco and was four goals less than Nkana forward Reynold Kampamba.
