Kenya's President to earn $15,300 monthly


Kenya's next president will earn $15,300 if a proposal by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) is upheld.
The SRC also proposed new pay structures for different state officers.
In the proposals, the maximum pay for president should be $20,000
A deputy president shall earn a minimum of $13,000 and a maximum of $17,000 per month.
The Speaker of the National Assembly shall earn $12,000, rising to $16,000.
The Chief Justice's proposed pay stands at $11,000 and a maximum of $15,000.
A Cabinet Secretary shall be paid $9,600 thousand, rising to $13,000, while a County Governor shall earn $9,500 and a maximum of $12, 575.
SRC proposes that a Member of Parliament (MP) shall be paid $6,352 and a maximum of $8,470. Also in the same bracket is the Senator.
Starting next Monday, SRC will hold public hearings over the proposed salaries countrywide.
However, the hearings will begin on Thursday in Nairobi.
