Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi will this weekend head to Midlands, where he is expected to hold two shows, as he prepares for a long tour of the United Kingdom in a few weeks' time. Tuku will perform at Baghdad Stadium in Kwekwe on Friday.
The show is dubbed "Woza 2013" in celebration of what promises to be a great year in many respects.
On the Kwekwe show he would be supported by Munya Mataruse and Bantuman.
"Tuku will relive good memories in Kwekwe, his former hometown, where he met, married and wedded his wife Daisy.
"He is an icon, who is highly revered because of the contribution he has made to the arts sector and the country at large," said show promoter Nick Manyame.
His biggest show would probably be on Saturday night, where Tuku is expected to serenade his legions of fans at Musopero, in Gweru.
There is no doubt that the experienced crooner is expected to rock the crowd, which for a long time had been anticipating his return to the city.
He will share the stage with Winky Di aka The Ninja President, who would be playing with a live band as well as Dereck Majaivana.
Winky D is expected to flavour up the event with some ragga dancehall tunes, while Dereck will bring in a new dimension of contemporary music, probably inspired by Lovemore Majaivana, who is now domiciled in the United States.
But as has become the case, the day would probably belong to Tuku, a man who needs no introduction on both the local and international scene.
Tuku is currently riding on the success of his latest album "Sarawoga" which features the track "Watitsvata" popularly known by fans as "Pata Pata" which has been on the hit charts for quite some time now.
He also has got a wide collection of hits from his more than 50 albums that had earned him heroic status in the arts sector, from the time he ventured into music more than 30 years ago.
Tuku, who turned 60 last year, appears to be in no rush to retire and is actually fine-tuning his Tuku brand.
