18 die as truck crashes into Mazabuka Shoprite

EIGHTEEN people died in Mazabuka yesterday after the truck they were on crashed into the Shoprite Checkers building.

The deceased - 10 males, five females and three children - died on the spot after the Fuso Fighter truck ran out of control and rammed into the building around 01:00 hours.

The truck, which was coming from Lusaka, was destined for Monze.

Both Southern Province Police commissioner Mary Chikwanda and Mazabuka acting district commissioner Wilson Siadunka confirmed the deaths in separate interviews.

Chikwanda said the driver of the truck, registration number ACT 2439, identified as Manuel Kabole, who is among the dead, lost control of the vehicle due to speeding and careered off the road before crashing into the Shoprite building.

And Siadunka disclosed that according to authorities at Mazabuka General Hospital, the institution received 17 bodies of the accident victims, while one of the casualties died upon arrival.

Siadunka further disclosed that five of the passengers, who were in a critical condition, had been admitted to the hospital.

He said the hospital was planning to evacuate the five casualties, who sustained fractures, to the University Teaching Hospital for specialist treatment.

Siadunka said the 23 victims were residents of John Laing compound in Lusaka and were travelling to Lochinvar fishing camp in Monze to buy fish.

Saboi who recently obtained her Masters Degree in Law said she was astonished to read an article claiming that she was seven months pregnant when not.

Saboi laughed about it and described it as a joke and further went to encourage the author of an article to get facts rights before publishing such stories.

Saboi also bragged about her Masters Degree in Law she recently obtained, stating that she is currently committed to her work and will not have a fourth child in the next 2 years.

The unidentified 18-year-old man, has now told Beverly Hills police that he wants to press charges against the Yeesuz star and law enforcement sources in LA have confirmed that Kanye is now officially a suspect and that the matter has been referred to the LA County DA for possible  prosecution.

The reality star told the young man that the N-word was not appropriate to use.

That's when the teenager turned on the TV star, screaming, 'F**k you bitch. Just trying to help you. Shut up n****r lover, stupid slut.'

A perturbed Kardashian then allegedly phoned Kanye, 36, to tell him what was happening.

Then, according to TMZ, 'when the guy realized Kanye was on the phonehe allegedly said, 'F**k you N****r.' - so that the rap star could hear.

However, just minutes later, an enraged Kanye arrived to meet up with Kim and learn face-to-face what had happened.

Kanye and Kim then stormed into the office and reportedly found the teen sitting there. 'Witnesses say Kanye punched the guy and Kim screamed, 'We have it all on tape'.

A third party had to separate the two men and shortly after police were called.

Beverly Hills Police officers arrived on the scene but West and his fiancée had already left, the BHPD confirmed on Monday.

However, the 18-year-old said he wanted to press charges.

'Kanye was named as a suspect by the victim as well as witnesses. He had left prior to our arrival, and detectives are currently investigating,' Beverly Hills Police Sgt. George DeMarois told the New York Daily News.

'The named suspect was identified as Kanye West by the victim and several witnesses,' police said according to a Beverly Hills Police Department statement.

The BHPD are now conducting a follow-up investigation in regards to misdemeanor battery charges.

Representatives for West have not responded to a request for comment, while a rep for Kardashian had no comment about the incident.

However, a witness who spoke to E! Online told a slightly different story that did not include a physical altercation.

'Kim and Kanye were meeting for an appointment today,' a source on Monday told E! Online.

'Kim arrived later than Kanye. En route into the building Kim saw a young man yelling racial slurs at the paparazzi.

'Kim told him he shouldn't use racial slurs and he turned on her and verbally assaulted her,' said a source who witnessed the event to E! Online.

The source backed up the claim that the young man began to verbally abuse Kardashian telling her to 'shut the f**k up' and that they then continued their conversation inside an office building.

'The two ended up in a stairwell where the man was in her face and continued to verbally assault her,' the insider added. 'She was genuinely scared.'

It was then that Kardashian took a phone call from her fiancé.

'Kanye called her phone and she answered and the man continued yelling at her,' the source told E! Online. 'Kanye overheard and came running down...he confronted the guy.'

'The guy continued with the slurs,' the source said. 'He was in Kanye's face and wouldn't stop. He was taunting him. Police were called to the scene.'

Neighbors put dog Feces on elderly Asian man`s porch for months, Elderly man puts bullets in neighbors

 A 76-year-old Dallas, Texas man was convicted of capital murder in the shooting deaths of his neighbors last year because of a months-long feud about their dog's feces on his porch.

A jury found that Chung Kim fatally shot his neighbor Michelle Jackson, 31, on February 4, as she stood on her balcony above his apartment. Kim then went upstairs to her residence and shot and killed her boyfriend, Jamie Stafford, 31.

The couple's dog would relieve itself on their balcony, causing the urine and feces to drip down Kim's balcony each time they washed it, according to court records.

Kim claimed the couple had 'intentionally thrown dog feces' on his porch.

'That’s all come down from my patio, from up patio. But now, three months later so stink,' he told CBS from jail.

He also said that the shooting of Stafford was in self-defense but that he could not remember shooting Jackson because he suffered a blackout.

Kim faces an automatic life sentence in prison without parole.

Just months before their death, Jackson and Stafford had their first child together. Jackson also had four children aged 7 to 11 from a previous partner.

The baby now lives with Jackson's parents and the four children live with their father in Garland, Texas.

The Dallas News reports that Kim, with the help of an interpreter, begged district Judge Balido for a new trial and entirely new lawyers.

Judge Balido told Kim that she would appoint Kim a court-appointed attorney for appeals if convicted.

He said he wanted to share his side of the story and claims that he was terrorized by his neighbors.

Kim's defense attorney spoke on his behalf. 'They specifically came down and dumped it on his shoes and on the door,' defense attorney Kobby Warren said.

CBS interviewed Kim who shared his account of the event. He says it was his neighbor who pulled a gun on him and that he shot in self-defense.

He claims he used martial arts to wrestle the gun out of Stafford's hands.

'Before he pull trigger, I got him!' Kim told CBS from his jail cell.

'I hit him in his gun. And pushed his arm. And, I take his gun. And with my elbow knock him down,' he continued.

He says the woman was not killed out of self-defense and claims he doesn't remember shooting her.

'I saw him. I don’t remember. At this time, My brain is gone. After this, I don’t know,' he said.

'I call, "Hey stop. Stop. And he go up. He say wait." And, he come back. Threw gun onto my head,' Kim said.

The police affidavit describes a different account of the event. It says, around 8 o’clock Monday morning, Chung Kim shot Michelle Jackson while she was standing on her balcony.

Defense attorney Koby Warren asked the jury to consider a lesser murder charge.

The prosecution argued that revenge is not an acceptable impetus for murder.

'This isn’t an eviction proceeding. If that was the case, the defense would win,' prosecutor Herschel Woods said. 'There could have been time for cool reflection.'

'Because you were angry doesn’t mean you can exact a terrible punishment on someone,' he concluded.

Jackson's mother, Yvonne Hypolite, read a statement after the judge read the verdict.

'The smallest baby will never know her mother,' Hypolite said. 'I don’t understand, Kim, why you killed my daughter.' 

'I’m really glad he got sentenced, but it still can’t bring my daughter back,' said Hypolite.

Dora Siliya should not be reading news on MUVI TV (letter to the editor)

Please allow me to air my views regarding politicians reading news on public or private media; this is in a case where Former Parliamentarian Hon Dora Siliya was given a space by MUVI TV on Tuesday the 31st December 2013 which was described as a gift to charity.
I think it is not ethical for a politician to be in the driving seat to cast news considering of the many contents which are found in most media reports.

Dora Siliya was reading news on MUVI TV last evening of 31st December 2013 – She is still a politician and indeed it is very unethical for her to be a journalist when she still has some political interests.

Precisely for argument sake, our African news at most times are about politicians saying this or that.

Objectively, Dora is a still a politician who other politicians don’t have a similar liking because if it was you being an opposition member you would not like to view her or what happens if there is a bad reporting about her in that piece of news it becomes totally difficulty for her to defend it.

Politicians are professionals in their own rights, the conducts of journalism does not marry to put the two together no wonder information bill is still a political theorem during campaigns by most politicians.

But look at it in a more objective manner because my points are that she can’t entertain other audiences may be only a fraction of interested parties in the society, the tenets of democracy requires that media houses are politically free. If you are looking at the opposition as well or what will become of news if other parties like President Sata and president HH or President Chipimo are not interested to listen to Dora?

China seizes 20 tonnes of out-of-date meat including chicken feet 46 YEARS past sell-by-date

A police raid of an illegal food store in southern China has exposed tonnes of rancid, decades-old chicken feet being 'processed' to be sold to unassuming customers.

The decaying feet, some dating back to 1967, were being 'cleaned up', plumped up and whitened at the 'foul-smelling' plant using bleach and other chemicals, before being prepared for sale.
Police, who raided the criminal operation in May, said they also found beef tripe, cartilage and other out-of-date animal organs - all of which had been smuggled across the border from neighbouring Vietnam. In total 20 tonnes of illegal meat was seized.

According to local media, the gang, based in Nanning, the capital city of south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, was able to make up to 16,000 yuan (£1,750) profit on every tonne of the putrid meat, by injecting it with chemicals, increasing its weight by 50 per cent.

Li Jianmin, from the local Public Security Bureau, told Xinhua news agency, quoted by the South China Morning Post: 'The entire processing facility had a fishy and foul smell. You just couldn't stand it after one or two minutes.'
The stomach-churning finding is not the first to be exposed in the area.
Police in Guangxi, along China's border with Vietnam, have stepped up anti-smuggling operations over the last year and have raided seven illegal food processors.

  

According to local police, quoted in The People's Daily, there were huge profits to be made from smuggling foods considered waste in other countries into China, where they are thought of as delicacies.

Criminal gangs have been difficult to catch, however, because illegal meats are often hidden among other produce such as fruit and vegetables, and lorry drivers are often bribed to deny any knowledge of it.

Among the seized meats over the last 12 months, police have found hundreds of bears' paws - another bizarre food sought after by Chinese chefs.

Two raids in recent months have uncovered first 231 bear paws in an attempted smuggling case from Mongolia, and more recently 141 bear paws were seized. Two Russians were arrested in Inner Mongolia in connection with the first case, which valued the paws at 2.8 million yuan (£306,000).
According to local media, smuggling remains a bone of contention for both China and its southern neighbour.

The two countries failed to come to an agreement on cross-border trade last month during Vietnamese president Truong Tan Sang's state visit to China, where he met with his counterpart Xi Jiping.
Media reports from both countries, which have been involved in rising tensions over territories in the South China Sea, lay the blame on the their respective governments for illegal foods entering their markets.
Vietnamese press claim chicken, sturgeon, fruit and vegetables from China have been undercutting local market prices. While illegal out-of-date produce is creating a black market in China.

Jay-Z Details Pre-"Magna Carta Holy Grail" Timbaland Fallout

Jay-Z speaks on Timbaland's past inability to "put ego aside" while the pair worked on "The Blueprint 3."

For years, Virginia producer Timbaland and Brooklyn emcee Jay-Z worked together to craft numerous records that would later be featured on Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter, The Black Album, and more. And with Tim’s extensive work on the newly-released Magna Carta Holy Grail, it came as a surprise to many when it was revealed that the two artists had previously parted ways musically.

At the top of the month, Timbaland revealed the news and credited his past falling out with the Magna Carta Holy Grail rapper to “disagreements” and “petty stuff.” And during a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Jay-Z shared his thoughts on the pairs past indifferences.

According to Jay-Z, his issues with Timbaland arose shortly after The Blueprint 3 was released and were primarily due to Tim’s demeanor.

“He was still on Blueprint 3, but the fallout happened at the end of that album. It really happened—the way the album happened and a couple of songs was getting leaked, that was his songs. And it was like that whole thing was just like it just ruined the whole process,” Jay-Z revealed. “I wanted him and Kanye to produce, and Kanye who was the executive producer of Blueprint was like ‘Yo, let’s get Tim. Let’s bring Tim in.’ We were all inviting of him and he just wasn’t accepting of the process. And it seemed like it was more about him than the actual album.”

Jay-Z says the producer did reemerge following their fallout and returned with a more mature outlook, one that helped in easing any past tensions.

Timbaland later went on to produce a majority of the songs featured on Magna Carta Holy Grailincluding “La Familia” and the Justin Timberlake-assisted “Holy Grail.”

“When you go in and make an album there’s not—you have to put all ego aside,” said Jay-Z. “I’m putting ego aside. Everyone has to put ego aside for the sake of the project. And he was accepting of that. That was almost like the last straw type of thing. We just went our separate ways. After those concerts he came back, I saw the new Timbaland. He had this maturity and this growth and I was like, ‘Oh okay. This is gonna work out.’”

ZIMBABWE WOMAN LOSES HER PRIVATE PARTS AFTER CHEATING

A 29-year-old Bulawayo woman from Matshobana, Zimbabwe suburb got the shock of her life when she woke up in the morning and realised her private parts were missing, it is alleged.

Chipo Sibanda reportedly learnt the hard way in the early hours of April 29 when she visited the toilet but could not urinate upon discovering that her vagina had mysteriously sealed. The woman is said to have nearly collapsed when she noticed that her ‘most sweetness spot’ had mysteriously sealed.

However, a Zimbabwean online publication says it has learnt that Chipo was in the habit of sleeping with married men — a claim, which was confirmed by the alleged hubby-snatcher. It is reported that Chipo approached one of the women whose husband had allegedly ‘strayed’ to Chipo’s ‘honey jar’.

A source who stays in Bulawayo’s Matshobana suburb where there incident reportedly took place, said a woman popularly known as Mai Tawanda had previously warned Chipo to stay away from her husband. The source said after the spine-chilling incident, the ‘vaginaless’ woman approached Mai Tawanda and begged for forgiveness.

“She didn’t have a choice in this case but to approach Mai Tawanda and apologise. No one remains calm upon realising that her sexual organ is missing. If she had not approached Mai Tawanda we could be talking about something else,” said a source close to Chipo.

It is reported that Mai Tawanda first thrashed Chipo but much to the surprise of everyone, the bashed woman did not cry. The alleged husband-snatcher was saved by Mai Tawanda’s sister who had been summoned to hear the confession.

Revealed

“She was set free three hours after the beating. She made a promise to Mai Tawanda that she would never see her husband or even come near him. That is when she was told to go to the toilet and check if her organ was back,” she said.

After several attempts to get hold of Chipo, our news crew eventually managed to hook up with the woman who openly revealed that she had learnt a big lesson.

“I am sorry to all women I have wronged. It wasn’t my intention to break their marriages. It (the disappearance of her organ) was so scary and the thought that I couldn’t piss was frightening. I could feel that my bladder was full but I couldn’t do anything,” she said.

Efforts to get a comment from the much dreaded Mai Tawanda proved futile.

Couple are first Muslim lesbians to marry in UK

TWO Pakistani women have made history to become the first Muslim lesbian couple to get married in the UK. Rehana Kausar, 34, and Sobia Kamar, 29, defied death threats when they tied the knot in a register office civil ceremony yesterday.
Watched by their solicitors and two friends, the pair wore traditional white bridal dresses as they wed in Leeds, West Yorks. The pair, from the Lahore and Mirpur regions of Pakistan, immediately applied for political asylum after the ceremony, claiming their lives would be in danger if they returned to their native country.

Both women said they had received death threats from opponents in Pakistan – where homosexual relationships are illegal and considered against Islam.

Since news of their wedding earlier this month spread, the pair claim they have even received death threats from within the UK.

The danger was so great that even the registrar advised the couple to give serious thought to their decision to marry.

Rehana, who met Sobia in Birmingham when they were both students, described her partner as her “soul mate” and said they were deeply in love. She added: “This country allows us rights and it’s a very personal decision that we have taken. “It’s no one’s business as to what we do with our personal lives.

“The problem with Pakistan is that everyone believes he is in charge of other people’s lives and can best decide about the morals of others.

“But that’s not the right approach and we are in this state because of our clergy who have hijacked our society which was once a tolerant society and respected individuals’ freedoms.”

After graduating from Birmingham, the couple started living together as a couple in South Yorkshire, where they spent a year before deciding to wed. Pakistani law does not recognise same-sex marriages and there are no laws to stop discrimination.

After Boston Times Square was Next Target with remaining Explosives

The accused Boston Marathon bombers planned a Times Square attack with their remaining explosives before they were thwarted by cops — and an empty gas tank.

“The surviving attacker revealed that New York City was next on their list of targets,” mayor Bloomberg told a news conference in the Blue Room at City Hall.

“We don’t know if we would have been able to stop the terrorists if they arrived here from Boston,” the mayor said. “We’re just thankful we didn’t have to find out that answer.”

The FBI informed city officials about the plot. 

Brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were armed with five pipe bombs and a pressure-cooker explosive like the two used in the Boston Marathon attack.

The duo intended to “detonate their remaining bombs” in the typically jam-packed midtown tourist mecca.

The Times Square scheme was hatched in the madness “after they shot and killed an officer in Cambridge” three days after the April 15 bombings.

The pair made a “spontaneous decision” to head south from New England, carjacking a Mercedes SUV and taking its owner hostage.

But the brothers noted the stolen car was low on gas, and stopped to refuel — only to have the vehicle’s owner escape and call police.

Tamerlan, 26, was killed in a wild firefight with authorities in Watertown, Mass., and Dzhokhar was arrested within the next 24 hours. Dzhokhar, 19, revealed the spur-of-the-moment plan in an interview with investigators from his Massachusetts hospital bed.

One day earlier, the terror suspect had claimed he and his brother only planned a trip to Manhattan so they could “party” in the aftermath of the killer blasts on Boylston St.

Homeless man wins $50,000 lottery jackpot but wants to stay in his tent

Dennis Mahurin has been living rough in Bloomington, Illinois, since 1978, and says he has no intention of moving into a more traditional home despite his big win.
The bearded 58-year-old couldn’t believe his luck after scooping the jackpot from a $3 scratch ticket he bought from a petrol station last week.

After scratching off the card in his tent, he took it back to the store thinking he had won $1,000 before the cashier told him he had won the top prize.

‘I scratched it off right here in my tent. I took it to the gas station. I thought it was a thousand dollars,’ he told.

‘She said “nope”, I said “oh I messed up didn’t I”. She says “no it’s fifty thousand”. And I almost fell over.’

Mr Mahurin says living on the streets is ‘in his nature’ and insists he is as ‘happy as can be’, but is considering upgrading to a new tent.

He also plans to get some much needed dental work done, visit his son and put the majority of it into savings.

‘With all the other homeless people around here, I’ve made up my mind,’ he added. ‘I’m gonna give them each $100.’

He also joked that he would leave some additional funds aside for his ‘new friends’ once news spreads of his lottery win.

One sprightly 100-year-old celebrated Easter in an unusual way - by rapping at church.
Verna Owen bust out some rhymes at the service in Chesapeake, Virginia. But this display of her many skills won't surprise anyone that knows her. 
The centenarian is well-known as a journalist, poet and athlete at the Senior Games. The mayor of Spring Lake, NC, where she lived for 58 years, even declared a 'Verna Owen Day' when she reached 100.

Owen's rap began: 'It's a cruel, cruel world when you stop to think. If you want to survive you got to swim or sink. So we mustn’t stop when we're growing older. We must soldier the burden like a very brave soldier.'

Besides rapping and writing rap-style lyrics, Owen penned a column for the Spring Lake News starting in 1953. She also wrote a column for the Fayetteville Observer from 1999.

Owen is also a regular competitor in the national Senior Games. 

She has won 300 medals at the events in the 50 meter walk, football kick and throw, softball hit and throw, bowling, billiards, cornhole, Frisbee bowl and Frisbee throw, shotput and discus.

When you released your recent album there was something a lot of people noticed?

 Let me tell you that Wizkid wasn't on the album, first of all, i want to say what we like to call 'Bad belle people' because they think there may be  bad news and when you don't give them that news they start to create it because i guess bad news sells more than good news.

 So i want to say categorically that there was no twitter fight. people go-online and use Photoshop to create my profile and say that i said this and they go and create wizkid's profile and they go and say that he said that. We are working on Wizzy's project to make  it work, cause when you go international things change.

So he is still signed to EME?

Absolutely he is still signed to EME.


Because the general belief is that he started his own thing ''star boy entertainment?''

Well you know that is something else he wants to do. he wants to start to his own record label and i mean i started my own label and look at where i am today. you have a lot of people fabricating stuff and making it look as if there is a battle and you know we do not belive in that.

We are all mature. we are all grown up people and we are all happy for one another. He is starting his label and we are in support of that, he is going international and working with Disturbing london and we are in support of that.

There is no beef, Wiz is part of the family legally, he is still signed even aside from contract some things are bigger than contract and money. EME and Wiz will continue.

:: NEWS Hackers find New way to unlock any iPhone a Day after Apple releases update to fix passcode flaw

Apple has been left red-faced again after a fresh security breach was discovered in the iPhone's software the day after it released an update fixing the last one.
The new vulnerability differs from the passcode bug fixed by the latest iOS update but it too gives unauthorised access to the phone's contacts and photos.

It emerged after the Silicon Valley firm released iOS 6.1.3, which put a stop to hackers who discovered a simple combination of button presses to bypass the phone's lock screen.

The new lock screen bug is slightly less complicated and involves ejecting the iPhone's SIM card while using its built-in voice controls to make a phone call.

The hack involves activating voice dialling mode from the lock screen and instructing the phone to make a call, then ejecting the SIM card at just the right moment.

That brings up the phone's dialling pad, from where the contacts list can be accessed and, via that list, the owner's photos.

Apple has yet to comment.
